What is customAdArt?
Do you have a specific image in mind but can’t find the perfect shot on stock photography sites and don’t have time to hire and oversee an assignment photographer? Post your requirements at customAdArt and have our community of talented photographers from around the world compete to create the perfect image for your needs!

Who is customAdArt for?
customAdArt has two types of users, Clients and Artists. Clients consist of those who are searching for a specific image and Artists are people with the ability to create that image! Our artist community is highly diversified in both background and location, providing unique perspectives and solutions for all Client needs.

What happens when you post a job?
When you post a job on customAdArt, you present a creative brief to our Artist Community describing your desired image. Photographers create images to meet your specifications, and, after providing feedback to help them improve their submissions, you pick the best image and pay the artist the amount you designated when you posted your job.

How does a job posting work?
1. The Client has an image they want created. They write a brief describing exactly what they want.
2. They assign a compensation amount to the job and post it on the site.
3. Photographers all over the world view the job and may submit images.
4. The Client provides feedback on submitted images, picks one to purchase, and pays the artist directly for their work.
5. Once payment is made, the rights to the purchased image are transferred from the Photographer to the Client.

How much does it cost?
You can post a job for $50. If you find an image that fits your needs, you will need to pay the photographer the amount you offered at the end of the listing with a minimum compensation set at $100.
Photographer participation is free.

You must pay the full amount you specified to the winning photographer. Photographers are not required to transfer copyright for anything less than this amount.

How do I sign up?
Whether you are a Client or a Photographer, just head over to the signup page. It only takes a minute!

Can I have more than one account?
To be blunt, no. Creating multiple accounts confuses other users and is very confusing for us as well. Please spare everyone the frustration and dont create multiple accounts.

How do I change my password?
You can change your password by going to the "my account" tab, then look under "Update Profile".

Clients

How do I post a job?
The first step to posting a job is creating an account. After that you simply fill out our form (creative brief) describing your desired image, specify how much money you will pay for the image you choose, and submit!

How long do jobs run for?
Your job posting will run for 14 days. You may select an image to purchase at any time during this process though, which will automatically end the posting.

How do I pay for the image I want?
Youll need to offer a payment for each job listing. Specify the amount in US dollars and consider offering more than the minimum amount, especially if your image requires a lot of specific details, such as specialty models, location shots, etc. The larger the amount, the more photographers you will attract and the more likely you are to get the perfect image you are seeking!

What is a brief?
A brief is a document that specifies exactly what the Client wants — down to the letter. Photographers rely on the brief to create images that meet the Client’s needs. The brief is the crucial ingredient to a successful job posting!

How do I write a good brief?
Dont worry — we guide you through the process to create a clear brief when you are filling out your job posting.

Can I change the details of my listing at a later date?
You can edit your job listing at any time. However, once your listing has received entries, you can’t reduce the compensation amount (you can increase it anytime though).

Can I purchase more than one image per posting?
Right now you can only purchase one image per job posting, but you are welcome to message photographers directly and arrange to purchase additional images from them if you desire.

Does a purchased image include post-image processing?
When you purchase an image you are purchasing it as it is displayed. If it isn’t completely to your liking you are welcome to message the photographer and request more work be done before choosing to purchase their image, but once you have chosen to purchase the image all that is legally required of the photographer is to send you the image you purchased after you have paid them.

How do I choose the right compensation amount?
Good question. What is the image you are seeking worth? customAdArt is different from other image sources because YOU get to set the amount based on your budget and what you feel the image should cost.

Some other things to consider are: How specific and time consuming is the image you are requesting? What is the compensation being offered for other job listings and how will yours compare? Are you requesting something that will involve an elaborate set and quirky items in the shot? You will probably want to increase your price if you are. Answer these questions, and you should have an idea of what the proper compensation for your listing should be. Also keep in mind that you receive all the rights to the image once you purchase it, so even if you do set a large amount for a difficult, costly shot, you get incredible value for your money!

How do I purchase the image?
You have to pay the photographer directly, via a third party service or, if the artist accepts it, by check or money order.

The most popular way to pay is PayPal, where you can sign up for free and transfer money either via credit card or directly from your bank. We recommend this service, and it is a safe and proven way to transfer money.

Some countries cant use PayPal, so you may be asked to use another service. We recommend either Money Bookers or Xoom, both of which allow payment via credit card or from your bank.

Can I pay with a credit card?
Lots of photographers do not have the facilities to process a credit card payment, however if the photographer accepts a service such as PayPal, Money Bookers or Xoom, you can sign up and pay through one of these with your card.

How do I give feedback?
You can give photographers feedback as a comment entered into the “Comment” field on submitted images.

Can I end a job listing early?
You can end a job listing early by purchasing one of the submitted images. This automatically ends the listing.

Artists

How do I become an Artist on customAdArt?
Its easy! Just sign up, set up your profile, and start reviewing briefs. You are free to submit as many images as you like to whichever jobs you are interested in.

Do I have to pay to enter a submission?
No. Our service is free to artists.

What are the rules of participating in jobs?
Have a look at this FAQ and the Community & Artist Guidelines and you should know all you need to know!

How do the payments work?
When you see a compensation amount for a job listing, that is exactly how much you will get paid if the Client chooses your image. No fees or percentages are taken out, and you are paid directly by the Client.

What are payment options available to me for money transfer?
We recommend payment through PayPal. It is easy to sign up for an account, but before you participate in a job you should set up an account and make sure you can receive payments through this service or another similar money transfer service. If you are not using paypal, feel free to ask the Client if they will support another payment service so that there are no misunderstandings.

What format should I submit my images in?
Check the brief for the job you are thinking of participating in. Each brief specifies the format and image size the contest holder wants.

Am I allowed to use images I have on stock photography sites?
No — if the image is on a stock photography site, whether it is your image or not, you may not submit it on customAdArt! This creates legal issues and is strictly prohibited.

What do I do if the Client does not pay me?
Do not send them the image! You are under no obligation to send any files to the Client until after you are compensated, so hold onto your work until you have been paid!

How do I report a job listing?
Use the Contact Us form, and tell us what the problem is. We will look into it for you!

Can the Client ask me for a copy of my image before the end of the job listing?
They can, but you are under no obligation to comply. Do not send any files to the Client until the job listing has been concluded and/or you have received compensation.
